Do you have instructions for my tent?
All Gelert tents come with the pitching instructions sewn into the carry bag; however we do understand that even these can go astray. If you would like a replacement set of instructions please contact customer services.
My Tent poles are broken/lost, can I get replacements?
In the unfortunate event that one of your tent poles breaks we can provide replacements, to order your replacement or even spare you will need to contact your local stockist who will be happy to help.
When calling your stockist have your tent details ready, such as the model and the year of purchase.
If you have recently bought your tent and found the poles were already damaged you will need to contact the retailer you purchased it from. Retailer contact information can be found in our stockist section stockist.
However we will honour the warranty for poles if they are a) broken upon opening the tent or b) break when the tent is being pitched. This will be at the discretion of the retailer. Breakages outside of these points are considered as wear and tear.
My Quick Pitch Tent pole has broken – can this be replaced?
In order to get the Quick Pitch Tents to do what they do, it requires the poles to be sewn in to the tent. Unfortunately this means that they cannot be replaced if broken or damaged.
If you have recently brought your tent and found the poles were already damaged you will need to contact the retailer you purchased it from. Retailer contact information can be found in our stockist section stockist.
Do you offer a repair service?
Most GELERT tents come with an emergency repair kit for small repairs in the field. For larger repairs we recommend contacting a local stockist (link to stockist page) who will have the details of recommended repair services.
Are GELERT Shelters UVA protected?
Our shelters provide some shade from the sun however at this moment in time they do not provide UVA protection. As when wearing UVA protective clothing we still recommend using a high SPF sun block cream when outdoors.
How do I clean my tent?
We recommend that you only spot clean a tent, it will then need to be re waterproofed in the cleaned areas.
What is a footprint groundsheet and why is it recommended?
A footprint groundsheet is a groundsheet that matches the shape and size of your tent.
We highly recommend the use of a footprint groundsheet to protect your sewnin groundsheet. The footprint groundsheet acts as a pitching guide to help to pitch the tent correctly and also helps to protect the groundsheet from dirt, small stones etc.
How do I deal with condensation in a single skin tent?
It is common in single skin tents to experience condensation, it is caused by a combination of factors including liquid produced from breathing and our skin, humid weather, low temperatures and keeping wet kit inside. In fact you would be hard pushed to find a single skin tent that doesn’t have some condensation issues.
There are precautions you can take to minimise the build up of condensation, opening air vents will allow the flow of air and prevent moisture from settling. Also keeping wet kit outside, possibly in a dry bag helps.
Please note condensation should not be confused with leaking.

How does the self inflating system on my matt work?
The matt is filled with high density foam which is compressed when the matt is rolled. Opening the valve on the end of the matt allows air into the airbed. As the compressed foam expands air is drawn into the bed. Leave the matt on a flat surface to inflate naturally. Once fully inflated close the valve and the bed is ready for use. To deflate simply open the valve and roll the airbed.
Handy Tip – You can always add some additional breaths via the valve to further increase the matt thickness.
How does the built in pump on my airbed work?
It’s easy to operate the built in pump by following these simple steps:
- Place the airbed on a flat surface with the pump facing up.
- Remove the cap and stopper from the pump, ensure that ALL other valves on the airbed are closed.
- Completely cover the hole above the pump with your foot and press down to inflate. Lift your foot off when allowing the pump to rise.
- Repeat until airbed has reached desired comfort level.
What is 3D Hollow fibre?
3D Hollow Fibre is a 3 denier silicon coated spiral shaped hollow fibre. Warm air is trapped in the spiral pockets generating spring like loft and great insulation. Please note all GELERT sleeping bags are tested to EN13537.
Can you explain what the season numbers on my sleeping bag mean?
Sleeping bags fall into 4 categories or seasons.
- 1 Season – Suitable for summer temperatures.
- 2 Season – Suitable for spring and summer temperatures.
- 3 Season – Suitable for spring, summer and autumn temperatures
- 4 Season – Suitable all year round.
All sleeping bags come with an individual specification label that will give details on temperature ranges and season recommendations. These can also be found on the individual sleeping bag product pages.
How do I take care of my sleeping bag?
All our sleeping bags are designed to be washed, this includes machine washing. Generally we recommend that you spot clean the sleeping bag with warm soapy water and a sponge or brush off dried dirt.
However if you’re sleeping bag is exceptionally soiled it can be machine washed in a commercial or oversized, front loading washing machine. Wash at a warm temperature with ¼ a cup of detergent for every 1.4kg of bag, we then recommend rinsing the sleeping bag at least 5 times to ensure all detergent is removed.
The sleeping bag can be dried in a commercial dryer at a low temperature, do not store the sleeping bag until it is fully dried.
