Awards

We always shout about how we love the outdoors, and that we think about nothing else but giving you the best products, innovations and technical functions. So when we finish the year with a handful of Awards and plenty of great reviews, we know all that hard work has paid off.

Gelert

The Compact Four Shelf Cupboard is one of our favourite camping accessories. It has become a must have piece of camping equipment for the tidier people in the Gelert office. In 2010 it was voted “Highly commended” in the Camping Magazine Awards, and has become a core piece of the furniture range.

Judged by a panel of top camping journalists and readers, the Camping Magazine Awards recognise the hard work and innovation that goes into each product. Judging criteria included: value for money; quality of service materials, build and specification; innovation and originality; excellence of design and styling, safety as well as price.

Gelert

The Milldale Compact Steel Executive Chair caused quite a stir at the trade shows in 2010, so it was no surprise to us when it was nominated for the Best Furniture Category of the Camping Magazine Awards.

Imagine our delight when it won, beating some very impressive designs from the other leaders in the industry. The judges commented that

‘Gelert has designed a seat that cleverly and neatly folds into a small package for easy packing in the car boot, yet provides a sturdy, supportive and comfortable chair.’

Gelert

The Ottawa 4 tent is one of our top selling models so it was no surprise when it was Highly Commended in the 2011 Camping Magazine Awards in the Touring Tent Catagory .

“The judges think this versatile tent is a real head turner – especially when decked out with useful porch and the matching accessories. Its practicality matches the great aesthetics” Camping Magazine March 2011

Gelert

The Gelert Timor jacket is a firm favourite with Gelert staff, so it was no surprise when it became one of our best sellers. In November 2010 the Timor Waterproof Jacket won Trails Best Value Award.

Trail magazine described the Timor as “A well-designed waterproof jacket that’s breathable and comfortable and has a long body so the pockets are accessible when wearing a rucksack – all for a price that won’t beat the bank”

‘The fabric is waterproof and breathable of course, and there is a mesh lining inside to improve comfort. But it is the jacket’s design that is really impressive. Firstly it is a lot longer than most, so you don’t have to wear over trousers as readily, and you can get your hands into those base pockets while wearing a rucksack. The front zip gets a double stromflap and behind this there is a chest map pocket too. The hood has a wired peak, and it fits and moves reasonably well. The hood can be rolled away to the collar too. Add in good movement in the sleeves and you have a jacket that is ideal for general walking if you are on a tight budget.’
